Zeta Fresh Air Wins Red Dot Award 2024 for Product Design

October 11, 2024

Kemppi's Zeta Fresh Air respiratory protection systems, Zeta W201x and Zeta G201x, have been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024. Developed and designed in Finland, Zeta Fresh Air represents superior user experience, ergonomics, and protection.

Zeta Fresh Air is a complete respiratory protection system, featuring a lightweight welding or grinding helmet paired with a certified Kemppi respirator. This esteemed accolade highlights the outstanding quality and design of our products, reaffirming our commitment to providing high-quality safety solutions to our customers.

Chief Engineer Antti Seppälä shares that the Zeta concept originated from the need for a lightweight grinding mask. However, it soon became evident that there was also a demand for a streamlined, versatile welding mask equipped with an exceptionally clear automatic glass. Although the Zeta welding and grinding masks were developed as distinct products, they share a well-functioning design and features, including automatic LED work lights. From the outset, enhancing user-friendliness was one of the primary goals in the design process.

Comprehensive protection with ergonomic design and user-friendly features

At Kemppi, we recognize the critical importance of good work ergonomics in welding and grinding. The Zeta masks feature a narrow and lightweight shell construction, alleviating strain on the neck and shoulders while also providing EN 166 and EN 175-certified protection. Zeta Fresh Air is designed for one-hand use, with easily accessible buttons and manual controls.

Zeta W201x and Zeta G201x are equipped with battery-powered LED work lights, enhancing work accuracy and reducing eye fatigue. These integrated lights offer both manual and automatic on/off functions, with a fully charged battery lasting an entire workday in manual mode. Powered by the battery in the blower unit, they are easy to control manually with one hand. Zeta W201x and Zeta G201x include a PFU 210e-powered filter unit that blocks 99.8% of harmful fumes, gases, and particles – offering TH3-level certified breathing protection.

The Zeta welding helmet's auto-darkening welding filter ADF SA60Z has a significantly large viewing area of 110mm in width and 60mm in height. Enhanced with VISION+ technology, the ADF provides greater clarity and precision, minimizing eye strain and fatigue. A DIN 2.5 light state ensures sharp colors and excellent visibility through the filter, even when the welding arc is inactive. The Zeta Fresh Air grinding helmet features a large 200mm high grinding visor with a 180° horizontal view.

"The Red Dot Award is a great addition to Kemppi's series of industrial design awards. It demonstrates our focus on product usability, innovation, and quality. For the team, this is a significant recognition of their hard work," says Antti Seppälä.

Kemppi’s investment in design has led to several international design awards. Kemppi won the Red Dot Product Design Award in 2023 for the Master M 350 product family, in 2020 for MasterTig and Flexlite TX, and in 2006 for MinarcMig Adaptive 180. In 2009, FitWeld 300 welding machine and SuperSnake GT02S subfeeder received the Red Dot Honorable Mentions. The Kempact RA product family also received the international iF Design Award in 2012.
