Kemppi Minarc T 223 ACDC: A professional welder's hands-on test
March 4, 2025
When it comes to welding equipment, real-world performance matters. Three professional welders put the Kemppi Minarc T 223 ACDC to the test.

Three professional welders had a task to test Minarc T 223 ACDC and TIG weld a stainless-steel piece and clean the weld seam using the same device. The test material was 316 stainless steel tubing—a corrosion-resistant, durable material often used in demanding industrial applications. While 316 stainless steel is known for excellent weldability, it requires stable arc performance and precise heat control to achieve high-quality results.
First impressions: Smooth performance from the start
Our testers, Teemu Laine, Onni Räihä, and Markus Aarnio, got their hands on the Minarc T 223 ACDC and were immediately impressed.
"The machine performed beautifully. All functions were just as good as expected from a Kemppi device", said Teemu.
The welders noted that arc stability and ignition were exceptional, making it easy to achieve precise and clean welds. Onni added: "The arc ignition, stability, and current control were incredibly smooth."
User-friendly and intuitive design
Ease of use is a significant factor in professional welding, and this machine delivers it. With an intuitive interface and simple settings adjustments, the testers found it straightforward to operate.
"Everything was easy to understand at a glance. The user interface was well-designed and intuitive", said Markus.
Weld cleaning: An efficient all-in-one solution
One standout feature of the Minarc T 223 ACDC is its ability to clean welds using the same device. This was a game-changer for the welders.
I've used other pickling machines before, and this one performed just as well, if not better. Having welding and cleaning in one device is a great advantage.

Onni echoed the sentiment: "The cleaning process was surprisingly fast and effective. The final surface quality was excellent."
Portability and ergonomics
Portability matters in on-site welding. The Minarc T 223 ACDC's compact size and reasonable weight made it easy to carry and handle.
"Perfect size and weight. Ideal for industrial maintenance work, where we often operate", Markus noted.
Is it fit for daily professional use?
All three welders agreed that this machine is well-suited for daily work. Its versatility—TIG AC/DC, stick welding, and weld cleaning in a single compact unit—makes it a valuable tool in professional settings.
"It's definitely on my investment list for this year," Teemu revealed.
The combination of power, ease of use, and efficiency left a strong impression on our testers. The Kemppi Minarc T 223 ACDC proved to be a reliable and capable choice for professionals looking for a compact, all-in-one welding solution.
